Maria’s career journey began unexpectedly in 1993 when, awaiting her LSAT score for law school applications, she took a temporary job at Sony Music Publishing through a temp agency.

Remarkably, what was meant to be a two-week stint turned into an 11-year tenure, propelling her to the role of Director of Administration. At Sony, Maria managed various facets, including licensing, registrations, and royalty distribution for Latin repertoires.

In 2005, she joined a startup linked with the renowned Latin label, Fania, overseeing publishing and recorded music assets, and aiding in the acquisition of the prestigious Kubaney catalog. As a consultant, Maria supported artists like Chayanne®, Ricardo Arjona®, and Sebastian Yatra in diverse aspects of their careers, from income tracking to negotiating contracts.

In 2019, she became the Director of Latin Music at Exploration Copyright Management, leveraging her extensive network and bilingual proficiency to acquire and represent Latin artists and songwriters for distribution and publishing.
